"New Beginnings" ministry opportunity

This summer we began a partnership with New Beginnings Resource Center, a ministry providing after-school tutoring and GED classes. Along with two other churches we hosted a summer camp that allowed inner city children a way to stay current on their academic skills and also have the opportunity to participate in drama, music, dance and sports. Now we are continuing this partnership throughout the school year and would like to invite you to join us. If you would be available for only one or two hours per week to help with either tutoring elementary students after school or to help adults who are working toward their GED and life-skills training please contact Crew Burton for more information.

Youth Lake Day

The youth will be heading to Lake Martin this Saturday, Sept. 17. Meet at Gateway at 9am and return to Gateway at 9pm. Cost is $10 plus sack lunch.

Precept Bible Study

 It’s not too late to join the Precept upon Precept Bible study. The study began Tuesday, September 6 and is from 6:15 -8:30pm on Tuesdays each week in the meeting room of the new building. Cecelia Teal and Pam Garner are facilitating this study. Two options for outside of class homework allow ladies to choose which best suits their schedule. If you are interested in attending this study, please contact the church office to order a book. These studies provide great times of digging into God’s word and sharing with other ladies how God is moving and working in your life.

Upcoming Mission Trip

Gateway will send a team to Uttarakhand, India in the foothills of the Himalayas from September 22-October 1. Team members will be Alan Cross, Bill Hurley, John Wible, Karen Golson and Shin and Alycia Jeong. They will meet up with two others who will join them from Sacramento, CA. This team will focus on identifying the needs of the children related to the India Child Sponsorship Program and will visit with partner ministries in the mountains and surrounding areas. We will also sponsor and participate in a holistic developement conference. Please pray for this team and consider giving to help them go! We still have not raised all of our support yet.

Fundraiser Lunch

On Sunday, September 18, there will be a fundraiser lunch immediately following worship to help raise money for the trip to India. This lunch is for the whole family and reservations are not required. There is no set price for the meal all donations will be gladly accepted and can be counted as a contribution to the church.
